#VRMA2013 Recap: Twitter Style
Thanks to all 900+ vacation rental professionals who joined us in Nashville, Tennessee last week for the record-setting Annual Conference.
Here's a Twitter-style recap of the 2013 Annual Conference.
Buzz started before the event even began, with many attendees sharing their excitement on Twitter before heading to Nashville:
With surging attendance, VRMA had its work cut out to make this the best event yet:
As final preparations were underway, attendees set out to explore Nashville and have a little fun before getting down to business at the Conference:
The Conference kicked off on Sunday with a packed new member/first time attendee reception for the nearly 400 attendees new to VRMA or the Annual Conference:
Then the Vendor Showcase opened for business! Members could stop by the VRMA Member Village to learn more about all that VRMA membership offers...
...or any of the 80+ booths in the Showcase, including these social-savvy vendors who took to Twitter to bring people to their booths:
Monday morning kicked off with VRMA's first-ever Silent Auction. The auction netted more than $10,000 which will be added to VRMA's Government Affairs fund:
Then the morning started with a little Nashville-style "musical coffee" by musical group Driven Bow:
Keynote speaker David Avrin- The Visibility Coach presented his thought-provoking keynote speech: " It's Not Who You Know, It's Who Knows You! How to Build Your Business by Building Your Brand."

After the opening keynotes, breakout sessions began. With more than 30 sessions to choose from on Monday alone, attendees took to Twitter to share tips from sessions all day long. Here are just a handful of takeaways from sessions presented on Day 1:

And don't forget about lunch! With more than 900 attendees in one ballroom, mealtimes provided fantastic networking opportunities:
The "Ask An Expert" session after lunch provided additional networking opportunities. Attendees broke into small discussion groups based on the topics that affected them most. Each discussion group was facilitated by a discussion leader who was an expert in that specific topic:
And at the end of a long day of learning, attendees were able to explore the enormous (and sometimes confusing) Gaylord Opryland Resort a little more:

Tuesday morning started with a last-minute schedule change:
Though not a part of the original schedule, keynote speaker Keni Thomas brought down the house, receiving TWO standing ovations from the crowd with his amazing story of leadership:

Tuesday also included the Annual Membership Meeting and Board elections:
The Vendor Showcase wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon...
...and then it was off to the Tuesday Party at Tequila Cowboy in downtown Nashville!
The final day of the Conference kicked off with insight from PhoCusWright researcher Douglas Quinby, who presented findings from the 2013 PhoCusWright study The U.S. Vacation Rental Landscape: A Market Reinvented. (A complete look at this presentation can be downloaded here.)
