Public Relations Committee


Committee Description
 
Oversee the public relations, awareness and external communication efforts of VRMA.  This includes: working with board, VRMA staff and outside agencies to set communication and awareness strategies for Discover Vacation Homes, Getting Away Together and association and general industry promotion and representation.  The committee additionally generates resources and provides expertise to association members and board regarding crisis communication and general public relations and communication strategies.
 

 
Individual Responsibilities
 
Responsibilities/tasks of individual committee members

  • Review 90 day and special project plans presented by PR agency and provide guidance on strategies.
  • Review current campaigns and their effectiveness
  • Participate in a majority of committee meetings (calls and in-person)
  • Communicate with committee via email and provide quick response to urgent opportunities or requests from agency, board or VRMA staff
  • Participate in special projects as they arise (i.e. member resources, crisis communication plan, white papers, presentations at conferences; RFPs)

Number of conference call meetings
4-5 per year
 
Number of in-person meetings
1-2 per year, typically during Eastern Seminar and Annual Conference
 
Number of hours per month
1-3 hours per month, can vary based on unpredictable nature of PR opportunities or emergencies

Competencies/experience
Background in and/or actively working for a vacation rental management company in a Marketing/Communication/PR role is preferred.
